Drowned near Galle ramparts, dies

A person who was rescued from drowning while bathing near the Galle ramparts died on admission to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital (GKTH).

The victim was identified as Lasantha Sagara Peiris (38), of Sagara Mawatha, Panadura.The victim together with a group had been enjoying a sea bath when the tragedy occurred. Some onlookers had rescued the victim and taken him to hospital.

The postmortem into the death was held yesterday evening .
