Governor opens road to temple

Eastern Province Governor Rogitha Bogollagama opened the road from Bar Road junction up to Punnaichcholai in Batticaloa, on Monday.

The road will be convenient for the thousands of devotees attending the ongoing Amirthakali Mamangeswarer Temple festival.

The road has been reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 20 million.

The Eastern Province Road Development Department has constructed this road under the funds allocated to it annually. The Governor also inspected the temple tank.

The chariot festival of this temple festival is scheduled to be held on Friday, August 10 and the water cutting ceremony on Saturday, August 11.

Batticaloa Government Agent M. Uthayakumar, Eastern Province Road Development Department Secretary K. Karunakaran and the trustees of the temple were present at the event.
