Lakmal captain, Samaraweera acting coach for SA Test series

Sri Lanka Cricket announced that Suranga Lakmal will captain the two-Test series against South Africa, which commenced at Galle yesterday. This is following a voluntary undertaking given by Dinesh Chandimal,

Chandika Haturusingha and Asanka Gurusinha to the Judicial Commissioner appointed by the International Cricket Council, who conducted Wednesday’s ICC Code of Conduct Hearing that they will not take part in the test series against South Africa, pending the decision of the Judicial Commissioner on the hearing.

The undertaking was given in view of the fact that in any event the minimum suspension points issued for a level 3 offence is 4 points, amounting to the ban of two test matches.

Thilan Samaraweera will act as the acting coach in the absence of Chandika Haturusingha.
