Former Senior DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara and former Crimes Officer-in-Charge of the Mount Lavinia Police Sub-inspector Tissa Sugathapala, who were in remand custody in connection with the murder of senior journalist and Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge, were further remanded till July 16 by Mount Lavinia acting Magistrate Rathna Gamage yesterday.
Criminal Investigation Department officials submitted a further report before the Magistrate. Attorney-at-law appearing on behalf of the suspects pleaded a copy of the report that was submitted yesterday.
Lasantha Wickrematunge was murdered on January 8, 2009 in Attidiya, Ratmalana while he was on his way to office.
Acting Magistrate fixed the inquiry for July 16.
