Korean company donates Rs. 10mn for flood relief

The Korean company, Cologne Global has donated funds to provide RO Plants to provide drinking water to areas where there are unidentified kidney diseases.

Furthermore, it donated Rs. 10 million to provide relief for people affected by disasters in the Kalutara district where the devastation was the biggest during last year’s floods.

Chang-Woon Yoon, the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Korean company - Cologne Global Corporation - provided the funds to Water Supply and Drainage Minister Rauff Hakeem at the ministry auditorium, recently.

City Planning and Water Supply Ministry Secretary D. G. M. V. Hapuarachchi, Additional Secretaries A. C. M. Nafeel and L. Mangalika, Private Secretary to the Minister M. Nayimullah and other officials participated.

Cologne Global Company has engaged in the construction of water supply and drainage projects in Sri Lanka since 2001.

Water supply projects in Galle and Hambantota were completed by this company and it is already engaged in stage IV of the Matara water supply project, Deduruoya and Colombo NR water projects and the construction of the Kandy drain water management and sewerage system.

In 2015 and 2016, the company made donations of Rs. five million for RO Plants and three water bowsers worth Rs. 10 million for areas devastated by floods.

It also took measures to conduct a three-day health camp at Kalmunai to improve the health of the people in the East.
