Lankan karatekas win two bronze medals

Karatekas of the Sri Lanka National Team won two bronze medals at the 17th Asian Cadet Junior Karate Tournament held at the Japan, Okinava Town recently.

It was organised by the Asian Karate Do Federation. Sri Lanka won two medals for the first time.

Thirty four counties participated in this tournament.

Vihangi Sashenka of Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha won a Bronze Medal at this tournament in the under 16-17 years age group Girls Kata Karate Event.

Sri Lanka also was successful in winning a Bronze Medal in the under 14-17 age group Girls team Kata Karate event and winners are Thulani Tesanya Perera of St. Anne’s Balika Vidyalaya, Wattala Imasha Dulanjalee of Karunaratne Buddhist Vidyalaya, Matthumagala and L K M E W C Sanjana of St. Joseph’s Girls College, Nugegoda.

They were trained by Shitoryu Shukokai Karate Association’s Chief Instructor Sensei Lakshman Saparamadu.
