A new system to promote government school principals by awarding marks for their performance, achievements, and their students’ results at public examinations, would be introduced shortly by the Education Ministry as per instructions given by Kurunegala District UNP Parliamentarian and Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, said Kurunegala District Senior Education Director W.M. Balasooriya, speaking at a meeting of government school heads of the Kurunegala District yesterday at the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre, Kurunegala.
Balasooriya said that school heads who wish to be promoted should be free from allegations of all fraud and malpractice.
He also said all school principals of national schools countrywide will be given transfers as usual when they have completed the due period of service and no room would be left for any school head to stay on at the same national school as was done in the past.
All school heads of national schools would be given transfers to other national schools and their status or rank would not be underestimated or belittled, Balasooriya said.
