Sanath Nishantha released on bail brother further remanded

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Sanath Nishantha Perera, who was remanded by the Chilaw High Court for violating bail conditions, was released on bail yesterday.

Nishantha’s brother Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Member Jagath Samantha was denied bail as the court was not satisfied with the bail conditions he produced. Nishantha was released with two sureties of Rs.1 million each.

Nishantha’s brother Prasad was remanded until June 7. MP Sanath Nishantha Perera, who is alleged to have been involved in an incident at a polling station in Arachchikattuwa during the presidential election in 1999, was arrested on October 15, 2015.
