Dansel organisers require Health Ministry’s approval

During this year’s Poson festive season, those who wish to organise dansel in both, the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the North Western Province, have to obtain legal permission from Health authorities.

The said rule had been made compulsory to save people from food-poisoning. Therefore, all dansel organisers have to be registered with their respective MOHs. During the recent Vesak season, about 43 dansel were found to have served food and drinks unfit for human consumption to pilgrims. Such errant organisers were warned.

It has been found that some dansel organisers countrywide, had used outdated ingredients to prepare food, Kurunegala District Administrative PHI Chandana Herath said when he was contacted by the Daily News, recently.
