Two Maldivians arrested with ‘Ecstasy’

The police Special Task Force arrested two Maldivians with 1,925 Ecstasy pills yesterday evening.

The raid was conducted at Dehiwala and the estimated value of the pills is reportedly about Rs.10 million.

The arrests were made on a tip-off, while the suspects were on their way to sell the pills to customers.

Police Media Division sources stated that the suspects had arrived in the country on Wednesday and the pills were hidden in a box. The suspects aged 20 and 25 were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau. They were produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Investigations are continuing.
