Cabinet approves further relief for Digana, Teldeniya victims

Further relief for victims of the Digana and Teldeniya civil unrest in early March, was approved by the Cabinet this week.

The Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, submitting a Cabinet paper seeking a payment of Rs 500,000 be provided to relatives of each deceased person and also for the payment of compensations based on Government Medical reports up to Rs 250,000 maximum, for each injured person.

The clashes in Digana had left three persons dead.
