Kurunegala Police arrested two persons in connection with a robbery that took place at a building materials and hardware shop within the Heraliyawala industrial zone in Kurunegala, on March 28.
Following interrogations, the suspects had divulged the location of some of the stolen equipment and accordingly, police seized the haul at a house in the Thambuttegama area. A roller door along with other equipment worth Rs. 2,439,900, were stolen in the said robbery.
The two suspects were identified as Palitha Munasinghe and Dhammika Weerasinghe who are residents of the Kurunegala Lake Sides Estate and Kumbukwewa areas. It was also revealed that they had been previously employed at the same shop.
They were produced before Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Sampath Hewawasam yesterday. The suspects were denied bail and were ordered to be remanded until April 6. Further investigation are continuing.
