The Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday ordered the release of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galaboda Atte Gnanasara Thera be on bail after recalling a warrant issued against him for not appearing in Court in connection with a case filed against him by Organized Crimes Prevention Division.
Accordingly,Ven.Gnanasara Thera was ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs.25,000 by Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara and advised to be present before court during next magisterial inquiries.
Ven. Gnanasara thera surrendered in Court through a lawyer and made a request to recall the warrant issued against him.
On March 15, Ven. Gnanasara Thera was not present before the Chief Magistrate over an allegation that he had allegedly made a hate speech tantamount to hurting the sentiments of Muslim community in the country.
