Govt. to look after welfare of Kumarasinghe’s family - CP Governor

Central Province Governor Niluka Ekanayake,on the directive of President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday visited the house of H.B.Kumarasinghe of Puwakgahadivela, Pusgowita in Theldeniya who succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a group of men.

Ekanayke informed the victim’s family members that the government will take the responsibility for their welfare. The victim has two children and one of them is a differently abled. The victim’s wife is looking after her disabled child.

The Governor said that she will hold a discussion with officials with regard to the welfare of this family on March 21 and she invited the victim’s family members to participate in this discussion.

She said that this programme would be implemented soon. H.B.Kumarasinghe of Puwakgahadivela, Pusgowita in Theldeniya succumbed to his injuries 10 days after being attacked by a group of men and this incident triggered disturbances in many areas in the Kandy district.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also promised compensation of Rs.500,000 to the victim’s family and the officials were directed to pay Rs.100,000 of it within this week.
