President arrives in Japan

President Maithripala Sirisena and delegation arrived at the Narita International Airport in Japan yesterday on a state visit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The President was warmly welcomed by a special high level delegation representing the Japanese Prime Mister and government at the Airport.

President Sirisena will be accorded an honorary welcome of the Japanese government at the Prime Minister’s office tomorrow (14). The President will participate in bilateral meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Prime Minister’s residence and would also have an audience with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo during the visit.

President Sirisena is scheduled to meet with high level representatives of the Japanese Government as well.

President Sirisena’s participation at an investment forum at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo will also be a significant feature of his visit. The President will also make an inspection tour of a modern waste management facility in Tokyo.

Besides, President Sirisena will meet with the Chief Incumbents of the Sri Lanka Buddhist temples in Japan.

It will be followed by a meeting with Sri Lankan community in Japan.

The Sri Lankan delegation comprises Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva, Malik Samarawickrana and Tilak Marapana.
