Prince of Wales and St. Joseph’s advance to quarter-finals

Prince of Wales College Moratuwa and St. Joseph’s College Colombo advanced to the quarterfinal round of the ‘Singer Cup’ Under 19 inter-schools two-day knockout cricket tournament yesterday.

Savindu Peiris of Prince of Wales Moratuwa took a match bag of 13 wickets for 76 runs to set up their win over D.S. Senanayake College.

Fifteen-year-old Dunith Wellalage hit a superb 137 off 140 balls with 24 fours and shared a last wicket stand of 174 off 227 balls with Ashan Daniel in their massive win over last year’s runner-up Richmond College.

Prince of Wales will meet defending champion Ananda College and St. Joseph’s will meet St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa in the quarterfinals.
