Warrant on MP Shantha Abeysekara

Chilaw High Court Judge M.C.B.S. Morayas issued a warrant on Thursday to arrest Puttalam District Parliamentarian Walimuni Shantha Sisisrakumra Abeysekara for having firearms at his house.

A case was filed against him and five others for possessing firearms illegally at his house.

The incident had

taken place on May 30, 2004 . On the day, Chilaw police raided the house and seized some cartridges, a grenade and several firearms. The case was refixed to May 15 this year. Attorney Nihal Sumanadeera appeared for the accused. Government Advocate Dhammika Udawatta appeared for the complainants. Other five suspects had pleaded guilty except the parliamentarian.
