Rains, thundershowers expected in several provinces and districts today

Rains and thundershowers are expected in the Uva province and Ampara, Hambantota, Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts today, the Meteorology Department said.

There is a slight possibility for ground frost in the Nuwara-Eliya district in the morning.

Misty conditions are expected at some places, particularly in the southern half of the island in the morning

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Furthermore, the Met. Department said that a shift in the prevailing dry weather will commence from February 24.

The Meteorology Department urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
