JO to demand for Opposition Leader post

The Joint Opposition (JO) has decided to demand the position of the Opposition Leader in Parliament, Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma said yesterday.

He said that they would make a formal request to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya soon.

Addressing a press conference at the Dr.N.M.Perera Center in Borella yesterday,Alahapperuma said that the government denied the rights of the real Opposition for three years.

He said JO had made a request to the Speaker to recognise them as Opposition members and appoint one of their members, who can win the confidence of all Opposition MPs as Opposition Leader.
