UNP creates history in Panadura

Panadura electorate chief UNP organiser Nandana Gunathilaka who led the UNP candidates contesting the Panadura urban council election, established a new record by winning nine out of 10 wards in the council.

Meanwhile, chief SLFP organiser in Panadura and Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe’s coordinating secretaries, Upendra Silva and Rajive Weeraman who contested as SLFP candidates for the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha and Panadura Urban Council were defeated.

SLFP won only four wards in the Panadura Urban Council and five wards at the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha.

UNP won nine wards at the Panadura Urban Council and 13 wards at the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha. One councillor for the JVP was elected for the Wekada Ward.
