Twenty-five (25) wickets fell on day one at Peradeniya in the ‘Singer Cup’ Under 19 inter-schools cricket match between Kingswood College Kandy and Piliyandala Central College yesterday.
Vishwa Chathuranga of Prince of Wales College Moratuwa and Nipuna Deshan of Sri Sumangala College Panadura scored their second hundreds of the season in their matches played at Moratuwa and Horana respectively.
Chathuranga scored 125 against St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya and Deshan 142 against Taxila Central College Horana.
Pethum Madhusanka skipper of Devapathiraja College Ratgama spearheaded his school’s innings win over Holy Cross Kalutara with a century and match bag of seven wickets.
Ashen Daniel of St. Joseph’s College captured 7 wickets for 44 runs against Trinity College Kandy while Shannon Fernando of S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia also had a similar haul (7/66) against Wesley College.
Sri Sumangala College Panadura, Kalutara Vidyalaya, Homagama Central College and Dudley Senanayake Central College Tholangamuwa also won their matches.
