‘Many privileges denied to workers provided under President Sirisena’

President Maithripala Sirisena was the chief guest at Trade Union Movement of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) get together held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, on Monday.

On arrival at the SLFI, the President was received by Leslie Devendra, General Secretary of Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya.

The SLFP Senior Vice President, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, addressing the gathering said that the SLFP being a part of this government fulfills a prime duty to ensure the rights of the working people.

The Minister further said that many privileges which were denied to the working people were achieved under the leadership of the President and said that today the SLFP, as a partner of this government under the leadership of President Sirisena, is fulfilling broad responsibilities towards the country and its people.The national organizer of the SLFP, Susil Premajayantha, Treasurer of the party S.B. Dissanayake and UPFA General Secretary, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera also addressed the gathering.

The Joint Trade Union Federation Co Secretary Somaweera Chandrasiri expressing his views said that the efforts taken by the President to eliminate fraud and corruption in the state institutes are praiseworthy.He further said that the blessings of the Trade Union Movements of SLFP was with the President for his commitment towards building a clean political movement and creating a system which is free of fraud and corruption.
