Laugfs Gas resolves dispute with Chinese management over LPG plant in H’tota

Laugfs Gas in a stock market filing has said that they were successful in resolving the dispute they had with the new Chinese management of Hambantota port for the building of their terminal at the southern harbour.

Laugfs had begun building the US$80 million LPG import-export terminal before the government’s deal with China. Laugfs said that the construction work on a pipeline linking the Laugfs Gas terminal to the jetty had been halted by Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

Laugfs said that they have started engaging with the new management and the issue has now been resolved.

“We are confident since the issue is now settled the project would be completed on target with the first phase scheduled to be completed by April 2018.”
