W G Evanthi Imeshika brought glory to her alma mater, St Marys Convent Matara by winning the 100 meter dash for girls
under 18 in a time of 12.37 seconds edging out favorite Shalinda Jenson of Gatgeway College (12.44) and Devinya Perera of Meauseaus College (12.57) to second and third place at the 33rd All Island Schools Athletic Meet at Diyagama recently.
She was placed second in the 200 meter event clocking a time of 25.60 seconds. 'St Mary’s is proud of Evanthie’s achievements', said Reverand Sister Sandamali Kurera, the Principal of St Mary’s Convent Matara. District sports officer Matara, Lal Wijewickrema under whom Evanthie has trained throughout her athletics carrier said that she was a great prospect who has consistently improved her performances and capable of achieving better timings in the future.
