Hirunika Premachandra Abduction Case: Seven suspects handed suspended sentences

Seven suspects in the Hirunika Premachandra abduction case were sentenced to two-years rigorous imprisonment suspended for 12 years by the Colombo High Court today.

At an earlier occasion the seven suspects plead guilty in the case; the eighth suspect, Hirunika Premachandra plead not guilty.

The seven are alleged to have masterminded and conducted the abduction of a 34-year-old youth in Dematogoda in December 2015 using a Land Rover belonging to Premachandra.

They are also charged by the Attorney General on 29 counts including threatening, assaulting and intimidating the victim Amila Priyankara.
