Johnston’s financial misappropriation case put off for Sep. 3, 2018

Former Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando's financial misappropriation case was put off for September 3, 2018 by Provincial High Court Judge Kurunegala Menaka Wijesundara, yesterday.

Three accused in the case had been charged under the Public Property Act.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando, charged under the Cooperatives Wholesale Establishment (CWE) Act, had allegedly ordered goods valued at over Rs. 5.2 million be released from three wholesale outlets at Yanthampalawa, Vehera and Mallawapiya in the Kurunegala district during the Wayamba PC election in September 2013.

Fernando along with Lak Sathosa former Chairman K. M. R. Fernando and former Minister Johnston Fernando's Private Secretary Raj Mohammed Mohideen Shakeer were also indicted in the High Court for aiding and abetting in committing this offence.
