Cine City opened to the public with a glamorous new look, by adding the latest sound system of the digital family – the Dolby Atmos, This was done for the first time in Sri Lanka. This will give the movie goers a whole new experience by taking them to another world and a different place, by its unique sound effects, modern technology and meeting up with the international standards of digital technology.

Dolby Atmos was installed in the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, for the premiere of ‘Brave’ in June 2012. By 2015, there were over 2,100 locations and Dolby Atmos has also been adapted to a home theatre format and is the audio component of Dolby Cinema. This sound system holds a capacity of 128 audio tracks plus associated spatial audio description metadata (location or pan automation data). This will be distributed to theatres for optimal, dynamic rendering to loudspeakers based on the theatre capabilities.

Each audio track can be assigned to an audio channel, the traditional format for distribution, or to an audio object. It is the surround sound technology which was announced by Dolby Laboratories in April 2012 and released in June 2012. Other movies which had been released including this sound are The Croods, How to train your Dragon 2, Inside Out, Kung Fu Panda 3, Monster Trucks, Cars 3, and Despicable Me.
