The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) jointly concluded another successful Investor Forum in Kandy.
This forum was the fourth in the series and was held September 9 at Queens's Hotel. More than 300 participants attended the forum which was aimed at broad-basing the capital market by ensuring wider investor participation.
Dhananjaya Abeysiriwardana, Branch Manager, Kandy, CSE, delivered the opening remarks, followed by a presentation on the macroeconomic overview by Prof.
Hareendra Dissabandara, Professor in Finance, Head of the Department, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Pasindu Perera, Head of Research, Candor Equities (pvt) Ltd spoke on sectoral performance and investment opportunities in the CSE.
The main presentations were followed by a panel discussion and question and answer session with the two presenters, Tushara Jayaratne, Director, External Relations and Surveillance, SEC and Niroshan Wijesundere, Head of Market Development, CSE, and the audience, moderated by Thusitha Meegahakumbura, Branch Manager, Kurunegala, CSE and comprised
Ranel T Wijesinha, Commission Member, SEC, participated as observer and concluded the forum by emphasizing the importance of both the SEC and CSE's role in educating investors on a regular basis in order to protect the interest of investors.
