Lumbini College, Colombo shuttlers retained the girls ‘E’ Division championship and boys became ‘D’ Division runners-up in the Under 13 Doubles All Island School’s Badminton Championship organized by Sri Chandananda Buddhist College, Kandy under the guidance of Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association worked off at Jayathilake Stadium Indoor Courts, Nawalapitiya recently.
In the final match Lumbini beat Sumedha College, Gampaha by 4-3 in girls category while Asian Grammar International School defeating Lumbinians by 5-3 in the boys category respectively in ‘E’ and ‘D’ Divisions. The organizers conducted the tournament only an under 13 age group category doubles for both girls and boys. Over one hundred teams from national and internationals schools in the country participated in the championship under A, B, C, D and E Divisions.
Sri Lanka’s top woman National Badminton Player Chandrika de Silva was the chief guest on this occasion.
