The President during the visit stated that the government will take immediate action to complete the requirements of the hospital and increase its capacity.

The recent congestion at the hospital has been brought under control after some patients were transferred to hospitals in Thalangama, Vethara and Piliyandela, which were equipped with the required facilities.

The President directed the officials to ensure the service of the specialist doctors to the patients sent to other hospitals.

President Sirisena also observed the ward complex of the hospital and inquired into the patients’ needs

Health Minister Rajitha Senarathne and Hospital Director Dimuthu Rathnayake joined the President in the observation visit.

First hand reality for H.E President and health minister, rather than garbled versions projected by GMOA not treating but terrorizing. Blood count and antigen test in half hour is so obviously possible if not for the money mafia control. If H.E makes hospitals in this region network with SAITM, Homagama, Thalehena, Mulleriyawa etc, it will prove excellent teaching set up, with a PGIM also added, a second city hospital, rather than chase SAITM far away to Avissawella. the region will flock, if treatment is FREE also. This project should not be tied into future private med. schools MBBS which is 6-7 years away, may or may not come up with distracting proposal schemes of SLMC too far into the future to destroy the present. Negombo hospital is answer for privates near airport, which may materialize in future, with a future battle for a future GMOA/SLMC. Give SAITM internship training without delay and treat the now epidemic rather than a faraway future myth which may or may not happen. SAITM needs justice NOW
