Two held for gold chain snatching

Panadura Chief Magistrate Chaminda Liyanage remanded an employee of the Panadura Urban Council and another suspect for gold chain robberies in Panadura, Wadduwa and Kalutara areas, recently.

The jewellery is worth about Rs. 500,000. The suspects were arrested by Kalutara District Crime Investigations Unit and handed over to Panadura Police.

Panadura Crime Branch who investigated into the gold chain robberies, produced the two suspects in Courts on May 29.

Eight gold chains were snatched from women walking on the road by the two suspect at Wadduwa and two gold chains snatched at Kalutara.

The stolen chains were recovered by Police. A motorcycle was also seized. The suspects were remanded by Courts until June 12 pending an identification parade.
