Nepal’s President arrives tomorrow

Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari will arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport(BIA) at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

President Maithripala Sirisena invited his Nepali counterpart to participate in the official festivities of the International Vesak Day celebrations taking place from May 12-14 at various locations throughout the country.

On Saturday evening, President Bhandari will attend a cultural pageant at Nelum Pokuna Theatre and then view a Cultural Perahera.

She will leave for Kandy on Sunday, May 14 and preside over the closing ceremony of the Vesak Day ceremonies at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

After returning to Colombo on Monday, Bhandari is tentatively slated to pay a courtesy call on President Sirisena and then meet with former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. She is scheduled to attend a dinner with President Sirisena as well.

The Nepali President will leave the country on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sri Lankan government has invited every leader of the world’s Buddhist countries to participate in the Vesak ceremonies.
