The accused in the Mawathagama Jakaduwa murder was sentenced to death by Kurunegala Provincial High Court Judge, Menaka Wijesundara yesterday.
The accused was found guilty of committing the murder of the 54-year-old farmer at Jakaduwa on September 12, 2006.
R.D. Jayadeva, 56, of the same area was indicted by the Attorney General with committing the murder of S.M. Wickremasinghe.
The accused had assaulted him with a mammoty inflicting serious injuries to his head.
When the judge inquired from the accused if he had anything to say before the sentencing, he said he was innocent of the charge.
Attorney Titus Manatunge appeared for the accused.
