School boy drowns

A school boy drowned when he went for a sea bath with five other colleagues at Pelena, Weligama around 3 pm on Tuesday. He was identified as Sajith Ranasinghe, 16, of Karagoda, Yakkalamulla, an Year 11 student of Godapitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Akuressa, Weligama Police said.

Investigations revealed that the six students had gone for the sea bath after cutting a tuition class. The body was sent to the Matara hospital morgue for an autopsy.
