Four killed in two motorcycle accidents

Two motorcycles collided at the Athurugiriya - Arangala 10km milepost, killing three people including the riders and a pillion rider.

One motorcyclist was travelling to Malabe from Arangala when it collided with the other motorcyclist plying in the opposite direction.

One rider who was an army officer died on admission to Talangama Hospital.

The other two deceased were identified as Mahinda Karunasena, 29, of Katuhena Watta, Kanulwela, Bibile and Sajeewani de Silva, 26, of Oruwala, Athurugiriya.

The other rider who sustained serious injuries was transferred from Talangama hospital to the Colombo National Hospital. The bodies are lying at the Thalangama Base Hospital morgue for the postmortem. Thalangama Police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist collided with a tipper along Diyabeduma-Bakamuna road, killing the motorcyclist.

The deceased Nimal Prematilake, 50, was a resident of Jayantipura, Polonnaruwa.

The body is lying at the Polonnaruwa Base Hospital morgue for the postmortem.

The tipper driver was arrested.
