The Japanese film festival 2016 will be held at the National Film Corporation Theatre in Colombo from December 2 to 4. According to Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma this year’s festival features five popular Japanese films representing a mixture of different genres.

“All of these films are stories woven around the lives of Japanese people which showcase unique aspects of their culture and society,” he added.

The annual film festival plays an important role in promoting the friendly relations between the people of the two countries, he noted.

This year’s festival is organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation in partnership with the National Youth Services Council, the National Film Corporation and the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association. The Independent Television Network is the electronic media partner.

The inaugural movie will be for invitees only and the rest of the movies will be open for the public free of charge.
