Full COPE report distributed to Parliamentarians

Copies of the full Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) report on the Central Bank Treasury Bonds investigation were distributed to all Members of Parliament yesterday.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at the commencement of sittings yesterday announced that the full report containing 13 volumes has been kept at the tables of all 225 members.

The Speaker also thanked the officers of the Government Printing Department for their commitment to complete the printing of the report after many sleepless nights.

The report was tabled in Parliament by COPE Chairman JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti on October 28 concluding its 18 months long deliberations starting from May 26, 2015.

The 13 Volumes include the full deliberations of the Committee including the audit reports submitted by the Auditor General’s Department, the full report of Auditor General submitted to the Speaker on June 29, oral evidence given by the officials, written submissions, the minutes of the Committee, the power point presentation of Auditor General on July 5 and the report of three member Committee headed by Gamini Pitipana which was appointed by the Prime Minister. MEP Leader Dinesh Gunawardana last Saturday in Parliament questioned as to why the report is not printed and distributed among the MPs.
