Three suspected 'AAVA Gangsters' remanded

Three youths, arrested on suspicion of being involved in criminal activities in the Northern Province and being members of a criminal gang called the 'AAVA Gangsters', were ordered to be remanded till November 16, by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris.

The suspects were arrested by Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) under the provisions of Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

They are between the ages of 17 and 30.

The TID alleged that the suspects had connived with ex-LTTE cardres to commit criminal activities in the Northern Province.

Producing the suspects in Court, the TID requested the Court to remand the suspects, since police were yet to conclude their investigations regarding the incidents.
