Tamil-speaking police personnel increased by 25 percent: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara said Tamil-speaking personnel have been increased by 25 percent. He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by BatticaloaTrincomalee and Ampara Police in Batticaloa on Tuesday.

"The people appreciate good governance in the country. National security has been established, and law and order has been restored," the IGP said. 

IGP Jayasundara said arrangements are in place to record complains in Tamil and to conduct inquires in Tamil.

"The number of Police stations will be increased from 467 Police stations to 600", he also said, adding, "The aim of Police is to reduce criminal activities."
