Five men sentenced to death for murder

The Colombo High Court sentenced five accused to death after they were found guilty of killing a close relative with sharp weapons in 2001.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against five individuals, residents of Sangaraja Road, Maligakanda, for committing the murder on or around March 14, 2001.

High Court Judge Padmini N. Ranawaka made the order following a lengthy hearing into the incident, and observed that the prosecution had proved the accused’s guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
