Little Serevi in World Rugby

 

 He played rugby as a fly half and full back for St.Peters College Colombo in the inter schools rugby championship captaining in 2015 season winning the Inter Schools seven’s rugby championship after a long layoff. He had the honour of captaining the Sri Lanka under 20 national seven’s rugby team in the Asian Championship in 2015 and winning the under 20 championship for the first time in Sri Lankan history under him this year in 2016. He has the rare distinction of being the only Sri Lankan national under 20 rugby player to captain two times consecutively.

Also he was the vice-captain of the Sri Lankan fifteen a side rugby team which became runners up in the Asian Under 20 tournament in 2015. After leaving school he turned out for Havelocks Sports Club in the inter club rugby tournament. He had a major hand in getting Sri Lankan national seven’s rugby team to become Asia’s second place this year with his brilliant display as utility three quarter and today's off the field article is about this very talented, dedicated and committed rugby legend Kevin Dixon who is nicknamed as Kutty among the rugby loving public in Sri Lanka as well as abroad.

Q: What made you enter the world of sports?

Because of my father’s encouragement as sports runs in my family. My father and my elder brother did sports.

Q: Who has supported you most?

Especially my mother, sister and also my father and brother, I should say my whole family is behind me and they are really very supportive towards me.

Q: What do you do for fun?

Playing tap rugby in the beach and play PlayStation with my friends.

Q: What are the top priorities in your life?

Lord Jesus and my entire family

Q: What were your most unforgettable memory/ incident?Captaining the Sri Lanka national under 20 rugby team for the second time in succession to win the Asian seven’s series championship and becoming Asia’s number one for the first time in Countries rugby history, also having a hand in Sri Lanka national rugby team to become Asia’s number two in the Asian seven’s rugby championship for the very first time in countries rugby history.

Austrailia

Q: What is the greatest accomplishment in your life?

Captaining my school St.Peters College Bambalapitiya first fifteen rugby team and Sri Lanka national under 20 seven’s team two consecutive times in my rugby carrier.

Q: If you had one day left to live, what would you do?

Definitely spending with my whole family praying to God

Q: Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?

I don’t compare any one as such, but I do follow the life style of Fiji and world rugby legend Waisale Serevi and Fijian rugby star Jessie Ryder

My whole family
