As the hills come alive

Nuwara Eliya once again will be all agog when the Royal Turf Club [ RTC ] kicks off or rather gallops off its next race at the Nuwara Eliya Race Course on October 29.

The day being Diwali, a DJ will keep the crowd entertained with a mixture of Bollywood, Tamil and Sinhalese music, guaranteed to keep the crowd going. Racing enthusiasts will be privileged to witness the new imports of Indian horses participating with hopefully big fields in all the races. The RTC hopes to have 6 Races with a minimum of seven runners in each race.

The RTC will be seeing new racing silks, by means of new owners who have purchased horses via the RTC auction sales. Some of the highest rated Class 1 horses like Silver Streak, Santos, along with other horses like Charming Grey, Absolute Red who would compete in Class 3 horses like Hunhar Collorato in class 4 are amongst the few fresh legs who will be making their debut run on the October 29, thus making the races even more competitive and exciting with thrilling finishes to the wire giving a stiff challenge to the already Sri Lankan based horses.

Entertainment for kids and all the fun associated with clean racing is on the cards, with expectations that the weather gods will prove to be amiable.

As always there will also be prizes galore on offer.

As is the norm with the RTC, drug free racing is a given, with the welfare of the animal being uppermost . “Make sure you are there to watch ‘ the hills come alive’, complete with Racing at the Highest Level”!
