Woman stabs two children, self in Madolsima

A 30-year-old mother, a resident of Uvakelle Estate Madolsima had stabbed her three-month-old daughter and two-and-a-half-year-old son and stabbed herself in her stomach.

Neighbours who found three of them lying inside the house with stab injuries had alerted the Police who arrived at the scene and rushed them to the Badulla Hospital.Hospital sources said all three are out of danger.

The mother would be referred to the hospital’s mental health unit for a check up to see if she had a mental disorder. Police said the woman’s husband is employed in a private institution in Colombo.
