Five Jaffna policemen in custody for two students' deaths

DEVELOPING STORY - 

Five policemen have been arrested in Jaffna for the deaths of two university students.

It is reported that the CID have been called in to ascertain if the police were involved in the deaths. 

The postmortem on the two university students is currently ongoing.

There are reports that angry university students have surrounded the Jaffna Hospital – at which morgue the postmortem is taking place.

The report filed by the Jaffna Police say the motorcycle the two university students were riding crashed into a wall at the Kokkuvil, Kulappidi junction in Jaffna, in the early hours of this morning.

Initial investigation say the two third-year students were returning from an event at one of the student’s home in Chunnakam.

Reports also say that the two were intoxicated at the time of their death.
