Court permits Sumangala Thera to go abroad

Ven. Kolonnawe Sumangala Thera whose passport was impounded by Court as part of investigation over an alleged offence of possessing an elephant without valid license, was yesterday temporarily permitted to travel abroad by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.

Ven. Sumangala Thera through his lawyers had requested Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya that his passport be released for a two-week since he wanted to visit Taiwan to attend a Katina Pinkama.

Ven. Sumangala Thera was permitted to travel to Taiwan and his passport was ordered to be released between October 29 and November 10.
