The 37th Asia Conference on Remote Sensing commenced in Colombo yesterday, under the patronage of the Lands Minister John Amaratunge.
The conference, under the theme ‘Promoting Spatial Data Infrastructure for Sustainable Economic Development’ will go on until October 21.
The ACRS is an annual event organized by the Asian Association of Remote Sensing (AARS) - Asia's largest society of remote sensing scientists and professionals.
The objective of AARS is to promote Remote Sensing through exchange of information, mutual cooperation and international understanding among member countries of the Asia-Pacific Region.
Sri Lanka has previously hosted the ACRS in 1983, 1996, and 2008.
