Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva who is currently serving a death sentence, has been hospitalised with what is suspected to be Yellow Fever, sources said.

Speaking to Daily News Online this morning, the Prison Department said the former parliamentarian had taken ill four days ago, and was admitted to the Prison Hospital.

Duminda Silva was sentenced to death on September 8 by the Colombo High Court for committing the murder of four persons, including former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in 2011.

He has currently appealed the sentence, challenging the judgment of the Colombo High Court.

Yellow Fever is a viral infection that causes damage to the liverkidney, heart and gastrointestinal tract.
