Salley responds to BBS: Says stands against those who insult Buddhism

Former Colombo Deputy Mayor Azath Salley, against whom the Bodu Bala Sena made a complaint with the Police on Tuesday, said he wishes for nothing but peace among the communities.

Speaking to the Daily News Salley said, “I have presented myself on behalf of other religions in Sri Lanka on many occasions.

There should be no harm to any religion in Sri Lanka, or its adherents.” He said BBS leader Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera’s comments on the Muslims and their religion had hurt him: “No one should insult another religion,” he said.

“I stand against those who insult Buddhism.”

“Do not insult religions,” he pleaded.

“Try to always establish peace among communities,” he said.
