Some Finance Ministry, Treasury officials ignore President's orders

Certain officials in the Finance Ministry or the Treasury do not carry out the President's orders and purposely ignore them or delay them, Government Medical Officers Association Deputy Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

He said action should be taken against those officials immediately. Addressing the media in Colombo yesterday, Dr. Aluthge said during a recent meeting at Girandurukotte, President Maithripala Sirisena had said that the gazette notification in connection with granting vehicle permits to public servants had already been issued or is being issued. But still that gazette notification has not been issued.

According to Dr. Aluthge, prompt and stern action should be taken against officials who do not carry out the President's orders no matter to which institution they are attached to or what they do. Dr. Aluthge pointed out that the Health Minister directly and clearly violated the NMRA Act while making appointments to the NMRA.

"We informed about this issue to the President in writing. The President responded to us stating that he received our letter but no action has been taken yet," he said.
