The Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College had their “PPA Annual Dinner 2016 and Teachers Recognition Ceremony” at the Hotel Galadari recently. Gisthy Fawmy (Managing Director of P M Mohamed Ali and Co.), Prof. Dr. Fazly Nizar and Rizmi Reyal (CEO of The Traveller) were guests at the event. Chairman Board of Governors Fouzul Hameed, Principal of Zahira College Trizviiy Marikkar, Hashim Omar and Anura De Silva (FFSL President) too graced the occasion.
The event was themed ‘STAR’ because it incorporated five parts of meaning Dedication, Commitment, Performance, Recognition and Motivation. Malkanthi Ranawaka, Shanali Priyangika, Zeeniya Jalaldeen, Dinusha Sajani, Yamuna Padmananda, Leela Shanthi, Shiraza Fazeel, Chamila Gayani, Rizana Mohideen, N. Jainul Abdeen, Hijazi Mohideen, Sumithra Jeyabalachandran, M. Ali Shaffy, Fathima Sheerin and S. Shihnaz Badurdeen were felicitated at the event.
A curtain raiser dancing performance, drum beats, Sinhala and Hindi songs, and a teachers’ drama act were some of the entertaining items at the event.
The valuable gifts presented at the raffle draw were a television, a washing machine, mobile phones, cash prizes, a DVD player, a return air ticket and many more. As a fund raiser for the PPA’s pet project ‘SNS’ (Support Needy Students) an auction was conducted among the participants. M. R. M. Hisham won the auction by making the final bid and expressed his support towards the worthy caused. The ‘PPA Annual Dinner 2016’ successfully concluded with the fellowship of teachers, old boys and well wishers.
